Linking tables

Hi! I am sure that there's an easy way to do this but it escapes me. I have imported a Recipes table from a desktop, each record having a unique ID allocated by the desktop. I have also imported a table called Meals which has details of each time the recipe has been used. Each Meals record contains the ID of the corresponding Recipes record. Easy stuff in MS Access but I can't find a way to connect the Meals to the Recipe by programming. Easy to do it manually but there are far too many recipes to do them all. I am happy writing code. What should I do?
