Duplicating values from a field in another table

It's easy to create a formula field that duplicates the values from a field in the same table. But can I create a formula field that duplicates values from a text field in another table?  The source table is the parent of the table where I want toe duplicate value to appear, so the formula would copy "first name" and "surname" and make them appear in all the records in the child table.

    David.. Why are you copying them?  If there is a parent / child relationship.. Simply refernece them while in the child table.

    The NAME fields are in the LEADER table, but the leader profiles are in the MEDIA table (child to the LEADER). The goal is the get a tab in the MEDIA table that reproduces the NAME and IMAGE and adds extra information. I'm not sure what you mean by reference?
