A review

I would like to like this product, but it prevents me from doing that for the following reasons:

1) Documentation.

Apple-centric. It was written for the Apple products and the screenshots do not translate to either the Cloud or Android products. Furthermore  the instructions maybe correct for the Apple products but they do no track what you can do on the non-Apple lines. The short version is you spend a lot of time going down dead end paths.

2) Interface

Sticking to the Cloud app for this. The interface is inconsistent and not well laid out. For example in Edit Columns you can drag from Available to Visible but not the other way.  Not sure why there is Edit Columns and Edit Fields. Really not sure why Delete/Duplicate Table is under Edit Fields.  Then there is the Wrench which duplicates most of Edit Fields/Columns. The only thing it really offers is the Link/Sub table actions. Not sure why they are not folded into Edit Fields.  Not sure why Import Data shows up on the database home screen, but not Export Data. Have no idea what Create table reference in  Edit Fields does? It shows tables with an arrow, but clicking on them does nothing. I could spend time going through all the parts of the interface, lets just say it is not a pleasant experience.

3) Behavior

This is the deal breaker. The behavior is non-determistic. I created  tables from Import Data using the same data set. Sometimes all the colums showed up in (all) other times some did and some where automatically hidden for reasons I did not understand. Conversely I created views/forms that I explicitly hid columns and which do not show up the Visible list but do show up in the form/view. Except for a couple times(that I can not replicate) when they in fact where hidden. There have other things I did that changed each time I did it. Unfortunately frustration keeps me from remembering details at the moment.

4) Transparency

I can not find a development/feature roadmap nor an issue tracker. Basically the user has to operate on faith that the above is being dealt with. I would prefer some concrete evidence that there is movement forward.

Again I would like to be able to use this product,  I just do not see it as stable enough to invest any more time in it.

I recommend going to youtube.com and doing a search on "Ninox Learning". There are lots of excellent videos there by Nioxus. The two videos about "Links" might be particularly helpful. One problem I ran into as a new user was the big red "You have modified the application button", which is actually not a button. It is two buttons, "Save" and "Revert" wrapped in one red button element. It was not until I slowed down and read the entire text that I realized there are two buttons within what appears to be one big red button. Maybe you have accidently clicked "Revert" when you meant to "Save". Dragging a "Create table reference" item from right to left creates a link relationship between the two tables. You are right, you can not drag an item from left to right. Instead, delete any item on the left by opening the item and clicking "Delete" in the lower left corner. Hope you stick with it.

@Adrian..  While I agree with several of your points..  I attribute most of those to "growing pains".  As a 30+ year application developer / integration specialist .. I understand your pain.. That said.. I have been able to step over most of them.. and joining their Beta Program have logged numerious issues / enhancements to which Ninox has provided a roadmap..

Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately they do not change my impression of the instability of the software. If Ninox was truly interestd in feedback it would not make you jump through hoops to get at the issue tracker and roadmap. Those are basic user friendly components in my world. I may check back at some time in the future to see if progress has been made. That assumes I have not found something else.
